AUGUST 21-22, 1997 <br />* Conduction of Improved Citizen Surveys to evaluate City services <br /> <br />* Request staff to recommend actions that can be taken to improve City services, and review reports <br /> from each department on how they plan to improve their effectiveness and efficiency. <br /> <br />* Develop a strategy to improve curb appeal of the community through more effective and rigorous <br /> code enforcement ~i. ~" !: <br />* Improve and increase the recreational and leisure opportunities for citizens <br /> <br />231 <br /> <br />Council strongly reaffirmed its Goal of Supporting the Development of Quality Education, and stated the <br />following Objectives in this area: <br /> <br />* Conduction of bi-annual joint Council/City School Board planning sessions and scheduling of the <br /> next session for Fall of 1998 <br /> <br />* Review of documented agreements with new Council and School Board members with regard to <br /> budgets, goal setting, and other appropriate matters <br /> <br />* Continued support of improvements in public school facilities and technology systems <br /> <br />Other Goals discussed and supported by the Council during their Planning Session included Continued <br />Advocation of the Prevention, Elimination and/or Reduction of Unfunded State and Federal Mandates, <br />Aggressive Pursuit of Regional Opportunities for Cooperation, Support of the Achievement of the Goals of <br />"Vision 2008", Continued Efforts to Incorporate Diversity as a Priority in Council and City Staff Decision <br />Making, and further Ensure the Safety and Well Being of Martinsville Citizens.
