2'19 <br /> THURSDAY, JULY24,1997 <br /> <br />A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor George B. Adams, Jr. presiding, was <br />held Thursday, July 24, 1997, in Room 200, City Hall, beginning at 10:00 <br />A.M. The following members of Council were present: George B. Adams, Jr., <br />Mayor; Dr. Mark A. Crabtree, Vice-Mayor; Bruce H. T. Dallas; Elizabeth H. <br />Haskell; and M. Gene Teague. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and <br />as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous recorded <br />vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose of <br />discussing Personnel matters under the jurisdiction of the City Council, <br />as authorized by Subsection 1 (two items), the primary purpose of which <br />was to conduct interviews of candidates for the position of Clerk of <br />Council. At the conclusion of this Executive Session, each member of <br />Council certified that (1) only public business matters exempt from open <br />meeting requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and (2) <br />only those business matters identified in the motion convening the <br />Executive Session were heard, discussed or considered during said <br />Session. <br /> <br />No action was taken on items discussed in Executive Session. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council waived its <br />normal, per-meeting pay for this work session. <br /> <br />Consideration was then given by Council to a presentation by Commissioner <br />of the Revenue Ronnie Minter, who provided information on a proposal for <br /> <br /> <br />
