MONDAY, DECEMBER 30, 1996 <br />Park; (2) Route 57 improvements from Memorial Boulevard to Fieldale; <br />and (3) the extension of Commonwealth Boulevard from its current ending <br />point at Highway 220 to Highway 58 Bypass and also from its current <br />ending point at Chatham Road to Highway 58 East. <br /> <br />Council Member Dallas expressed support for continued State funding for <br />the Summer Youth Employment Program and funding for the programs which <br />assist in the transition from prison to the community. Council Member <br />Dallas also expressed support for funding of programs to assist <br />homeless individuals and for day care for working people. <br /> <br />West Piedmont Planning District Commission Executive Director Robert W. <br />Dowd expressed support for the following: (1) additional funding for <br />regional competitiveness programs; (2) expanded funding for Interstate <br />73; (3) funding for completion of Highway 58; (4) the continued funding <br />of the Federal Economic Development Administration; and (5) additional <br />funding for planning district commissions. <br /> <br />All members of Council expressed appreciation to the legislators for <br />taking the time to listen to the City's positions on these issues. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams then declared the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Lance G.
