<br /> <br />Martinsville <br /> <br />: ( ",,! f! <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the recognition of Martinsville-Henry County's furniture manufacturing <br />heritage is a worthwhile activity of our community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the establishment of a heritage park in Uptown Martinsville celebrating this <br />region's great history of being a leading participant in the furniture industry of the United <br />States is a worthwhile goal; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an area on the South side of Church Street in Uptown Martinsville, directly <br />across from Martins Plaza in the Board Street parking lot will be granted by easement to <br />the City for the establishment of such a park, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this park may in the future celebrate the additional contributions this region <br />has made to other sectors of the national industrial economy, <br /> <br />Now, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />assembled in regular session on Tuesday, May 12,2009, that pursuant to Code of <br />Virginia S S 15.2-1806 and 15.2-1809, that this area be designated the "Martinsville - <br />Henry County Industrial Heritage Park." <br /> <br />Attest: <br /> <br />Clerk of Council <br /> <br />Date Adopted <br />
