Virginia <br /> <br />Dear Council t\-1embcrs: <br /> <br />The Planning Commission. at its regular meeting on February 19. 2009. conducted a duly <br />advertised Puhlic Hearing on proposed Historic District Design Guidelines as amended <br />by the Architectural Reviev." Board, <br /> <br />At the Public Hearing it \\'as noted these guidelines arc onl) a guiding force in the <br />preservation of our architectural stock and would allow funding sources for the propcrtil's <br />within the Hi storie Districts, These guidelines affect primari 11' the exterior of lhe <br />prope11y. while interior reslrictions arc enforced through the building code, Several <br />citizens in attendance at the meeting spoh' in hwor of the proposal. There \-vere t"vo <br />verbal oppositions scnt to the meeting, <br /> <br />Following discussion of this proposed amc:ndmenl. the Planning Commission voted <br />unanimously (4-0) to n:comlllcno to City Council appro\ul oCthe lIistoric District Design <br />Guidelines as proposed by the ARB. <br /> <br />The Planning Commission respectfully submits thc above recommendation for Councirs <br />lurther consideration. <br /> <br />Sincerely. <br /> <br />James i\.
