The program targets three major traffic safety priorities: occupant
protection, impaired driving and speeding. In the area of impaired driving
enforcement, the Virginia Law Enforcement Challenge will recognize outstanding
efforts that create general enforcement, both during brief periods of heightened
enforcement and on a sustained basis throughout the year. The Virginia Law
Enforcement Challenge recognizes agencies that have innovative speed
management programs. The Virginia Law Enforcement Challenge allows law
enforcement agencies to set comprehensive goals, to strive to reach new heights, to
share their experiences with others, and to be recognized for their traffic safety
accomplishments. The Martinsville Police Dept was awarded Rookie of the Year
and placed 1 st in our division. Mr. Donald Allen, Law Enforcement Liaison,
Virginia Highway Safety Office, will be at the meeting to make the presentation.

Attachments:

Recommendations:
