Lawson <br /> <br />Pledge to the American flag <br /> <br />1. Consider approval of the minutes of City Council's meetings of October 9 and <br />October 14, 2008. (2 minutes) <br /> <br />2. Conduct a public hearing and consider approval, on first reading, to abandon a <br />strip of land retained by the .city in front of 800,806 and 810 N. Memorial <br />Boulevard, as shown on Tax Map 30 on a recommendation from the Planning <br />Commission. (5 minutes) <br /> <br />3. Consider endorsing Martinsville Uptown Revitalization Association's Retail <br />Market Plan. (10 minutes) <br /> <br />4. Consider discussion of monthly financial report. (5 minutes) <br /> <br />5. Consider approval of consent agenda. (2 minutes) <br />A. Accept & appropriate funds in the General Fund FY09. <br /> <br />6. Hear a report on timbering options for surplus city property along Smith Lake <br />Road and Forest Lake Drive. (10 minutes) <br /> <br />7. Consider appointing a Green Committee to assess the areas of opportunity on <br />how to protect and preserve pur environment. (10 minutes) <br /> <br />8. Business from the Floor (10 minutes) <br /> <br />This section of the Council meeting provides citizens the opportunity to <br />discuss matters, which are not listed on the printed agenda. In that the <br />Council meetings are broadcast on Martinsville Government Television, the <br />City Council is responsible for the content of the programming. Thus, any <br />person wishing to bring a matter to Council's attention under this Section <br />of the agenda should: (1) come to the podium and state their name and <br />address; (2) state the matter that they wish to discuss and what action <br />they would like for Council to take; (3) limit their remarks to five minutes; <br />and (4) refrain from making any personal references or accusations of a <br />factually false and/or malicious nature. Persons who violate these <br />guidelines will be ruled out of order by the presiding officer and will be <br />asked to leave the podium. Persons who refuse to comply with the <br />direction of the presiding Qfficer may be removed from the chambers. <br />
