<br />M Martinsville <br /> <br />City Council <br />Agenda Sununary <br /> <br />Meeting Date: <br />Item No: <br />Department: <br />Issue: <br /> <br />October 14, 2008 <br />2. <br /> <br />City Manager <br /> <br />Recognition of city staff for receiving the Certificate of <br />Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the <br />City of Martinsville by the Government Finance Officers <br />Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its <br />FY '07 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. <br /> <br />Summary: <br /> <br />The Certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area <br />of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its <br />attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a <br />government and its management. This achievement was <br />attained through the collective efforts of the Finance <br />Department staff, the full cooperation of other city <br />departments and our auditing firm, Robinson, Farmer & <br />Cox. <br /> <br />The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving <br />approximately 17,000 government finance professionals. <br /> <br />Attachments: None <br /> <br />Recommendations: Formal recognition of the Finance Department Staff and <br />present the award to staff in attendance. <br />
