<br />A Community Meeting with City Council for the NorthsidejChatham <br /> <br />Heights area was held on March 13, 2007, at McCabe Memorial Baptist <br /> <br />Church, 107 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, Virginia, beginning at 7: IS P. M., <br /> <br />with Vice Mayor James W. Clark presiding. Council Members present <br /> <br />included: Vice Mayor Clark and Council Members Mark T. Anderson, J. <br /> <br />Ronald Ferrill and Kathy C. Lawson. Mayor Kimble Reynolds, Jr. was absent. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Clark opened the meeting, welcoming all in attendance and <br /> <br />asking anyone who wished to make comments to state their name and address. <br /> <br />James Sparks, 307 Wingfield Street - concerns about two vacant homes <br /> <br />on his street that either the owners need to be required to get back up to Code <br /> <br />or tear down; odor from pit bulls chained at property on his street; property at <br /> <br />303 Wingfield Street; question about putting cul-de-sac at end of street; <br /> <br />Skeeter Joyce, County resident and member of McCabe - welcomed <br /> <br />everyone to the church and expressed concerns about trash spilling from the <br /> <br />trucks that are going in and out of the transfer station on Clearview Drive. <br /> <br />George McFarland, 709 Starling Avenue - concerns about City's <br /> <br />relationship with the EDC such as why we pay more than the County, are they <br /> <br />working in our best interests, why the EDC does not use more local <br /> <br />businesses; concerns about increase in utility bill and real estate tax <br />
