February 24, 2007

A Council-Staff Summit of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, was held on

February 24,2007, in Council Chamber, Municipal Building, beginning at 9:00

A. M., with Mayor Kimble Reynolds, Jr. presiding. Council Members present

included: Kimble Reynolds, Jr., Mayor; James W. Clark, Vice Mayor and

Council Members Mark T. Anderson, J. Ronald Ferrill and Kathy C. Lawson.

Steve Draper, City Sheriff, and Ashby Pritchett, Circuit Court Clerk, were also

present as well as City staff. Mayor Reynolds opened the meeting.

City Manager Dan Collins and Mayor Reynolds led the group in the

review of the Goals & Initiatives for 2006 & 2007 with department heads and

others participating in the discussion of progress made to date. In some

instances, goals and initiatives were updated, new ones added or those

completed were marked as such.

The Mayor left the meeting at 1 :36 p.m. to attend a visitation and

returned at 1 :56 p.m.

A new goal relating to the space needs for the Henry-Martinsville

Department of Social Services and the Health Department was added under

.

"Regional Participation". Council agreed to take a tour of the current Social

Services building beginning at 3:00 p.m. prior to their March 13, 2007 work

session instead of touring the Northside area as originally scheduled. The item

will be on the agenda for further discussion.
