<br />February 27,2007 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has encouraged all active tenant _ <br />based and project - based housing authorities to establish homeownership programs as an option for their <br />recipients; now therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled <br />February 27, 2007, hereby approves the establishment of the Housing Choice Voucher Option Program <br />for use as outlined above. <br /> <br />There being no further business to come before the Authority, the <br /> <br />Authority was adjourned and Council reconvened as Martinsville City Council. <br /> <br />Council members individually made comments concernIng the current <br /> <br />Issue surrounding the County's purchase of the former Athena building for a <br /> <br />possible location of the Social Services/Health Departments; possibly <br /> <br />scheduling routine meetings between the County Administrator, Board <br /> <br />Chairman, Mayor and the City Manager and the success of the joint <br /> <br />Council/Staff meeting on Saturday to review goals and initiatives and Vision <br /> <br />2025 for the City. Council Member Lawson asked the City Manager about the <br /> <br />bulk trash program and Mr. Collins indicated that he and Leon Towarnicki, <br /> <br />Public Works Director, are trying to identify as many options as they can and <br /> <br />will ~ave a report at the next work session. <br /> <br />City Manager Collins agreed with Council that Saturday's meeting was <br /> <br />very productive and staff will continue to make steps toward the goals and <br /> <br />initiatives. <br /> <br />He also agreed with the concept of meeting monthly with <br /> <br />representatives from the County and will submit a request in writing.
