A. <br /> <br />Police <br /> <br />Recognition (staff/ citizens) <br />Presentation of "Citizen of the Year" award by the Police <br />Department. <br /> <br />Summary: <br /> <br />Each year the Police Department presents a Citizen of the Year award to a citizen for <br />outstanding contributions to the community, a program that begin in 1982. The award is <br />presented for each calendar year and is presented at a City Council meeting in February, <br />which commemorates "Law Enforcement Week" Five members of the Department, <br />appointed by the Chief, serve on the selection committee. Nominations for the award are <br />accepted from any member of the Department, including selection committee members. <br />After all nominations are received, it is the duty of the committee to review the <br />nominations and make the final selection. <br /> <br />The following are qualities or traits of the nominees for the award: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mature Person <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Good moral character <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Attitude is considered outstanding towards law enforcement <br /> <br />Demonstrates a continuous support of, and concern for, the police department <br /> <br />· Demonstrated by act or deed, a positive attitude towards law enforcement. <br /> <br />This year's recipient will be announced at your meeting. <br /> <br />Attachments: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Recommendations: <br /> <br />No action required <br />
