<br />3f <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />OCTOBER 11, 1955 <br /> <br />indicated that it will donate its portion of sufficient right-of-way (for a 52-foot <br /> <br />street) if the other property owners on this street will do likewise, in which case <br /> <br />the street would become eligible for consideration for major improvements. <br /> <br />City Manager Mathewson next reported on his recent appearance before the State Water <br /> <br />Control Board, at which time he informed the Board of developments to date in <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />Martinsville's attempt and plans to provide an adequate s6Vferage system and a sewage <br /> <br />disposal plant for Mart:i.I1Sville. A letter from the Board, subsequent to Mr. Mathewson's <br /> <br />appearance, directed that the City of Martinsville submit another report on this subject <br /> <br />to the Board for its forthcoming October 27th meeting. <br /> <br />After being advised that tentative approval has been given by the Federal Government <br /> <br />m <br />~I <br />i <br /> <br />to Martinsvi11e's preliminary application for an advance planning loan for proposed <br /> <br />sewerage system improvements plans, Council authorized City Manager :Mathewson to <br /> <br />execute and file on behalf of the City a final application for said loan by means of <br /> <br />the following resolution: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, City of Martinsville herein called the "Applicant,1I after <br />thorough consideration of the various aspects of the problem and study of <br />available data has hereby determined that the construction of certain <br />public works, generally described as Sewer System Improvements is desir- <br />able and in the public interest and to that end it is necessary that <br />action preliminary to the construction of said works be taken :immediately; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, under the terms of Public LawS60, 83rd Congress, approved <br />August 2, 1954, the United States of America has authorized the making of <br />advances to public bodies to aid in financing the cost of engineering and <br />architectural surveys, designs, plans, working drawings, specifications <br />or other action preliminary to and in preparation for the construction of <br />public works; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Applicant has examined and duly cons idered such Act and <br />the Applicant considers it to be in the public interest and to its benefit <br />to file an application under said Act and to authorize other action in <br />connection therewith; <br />
