Nay, a number of residents of <br /> <br />Old Danyille Road presented a petition requesting the rezoning from "B-1 <br /> <br />Busi..."1CSS" to "A-2 Res7.dential" the following- properties on Old Danville <br /> <br />Road: <br /> <br />lots 19 - 40, Section 3, Sheet 45, and Lots 11 - 26, Sheet 46 <br />on the Ea st side of the Old Danvl11e Road; and Lots 3 - 5, <br />Section 3, Sheet 45 and Lots 1 - 16, Section 4, Sheet 45 on <br />the 1,-lest side of the Old Danville 'load. <br /> <br />Council referred this petition to the Plarming Commission for its consider- <br /> <br />ation ~nd recoIDC1endation. <br /> <br />In conclusion, Council received .from City Manager Ne.thewson a brief verbal <br /> <br />report on the Managerts trip, along with members of the City Planning <br /> <br />C01"':rrnission, to Philadelphia on August 18, 1955 where a con:'erence 'W':i.th <br /> <br />~::~ <br />~~ <br />~ <br /> <br />representatives of the Federal Government t s Urban Rene./s-I !\gency was held <br /> <br />to determine ways and means of effecting the City Managert s recornnended <br /> <br />"Save our Downtown Project". While the Planning Commission has this matter <br /> <br />tmder considerati:m and wDl later render a report thereon as well as on the <br /> <br />conference, the City Hanager pdnted out thA.t under the broad provisions <br /> <br />of the Federal law governj.ng actj,vi ties of the Urban Rene\.ral _l\.gency the <br /> <br />Federal Government could participate financially quite heavily in tJd.s <br /> <br />project. The }1anager further pointed out some of the economic and social <br /> <br />benefits 1,lhich would result from this project from the 10c31 standpoint as <br /> <br />well as the Federal standpoint.
