<br />r <br />. <br />t.. <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 9, 1954 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor R. S. Hodnett presiding, was held in the C01.Ulcil Chamber, City Hall, on <br /> <br /> <br />Tuesday, November 9, 1954, at 7::30 P.M., all members, as follows, being present: <br /> <br />Mayor and Councilman R. S. Hodnett; and Councilmen C. P. Craig, B. H. Hill, W. T. <br /> <br />Turner, and J. R. Walker. <br /> <br />Minutes of the regular Council meeting held October 26, 1954, upon being read, were <br /> <br />approved. <br /> <br />In connection with a recent request from the Martinsville Volunteer Fire Company far <br /> <br />permission to locate a recreational cabin or cottage on a site within the City's new <br /> <br />water impounding reservoir and in connection with further inquiry on this subject, <br /> <br />~::~ <br />~~ <br />i <br /> <br />Council indicated that it would withhold any disposition of the site and any action <br /> <br />on the request pending receipt of the Volunteer Fire Companyls report--now in process <br /> <br />of being prepared--as to the intended usage of the property and the regulations <br /> <br />governing. <br /> <br />Council also deferred action on the following request for a business license tax <br /> <br />adjustment, as submitted by Mr. H. M. Turner (trading as Turner & Mize Motor Company) <br /> <br />through his attorney, Mr. J. English Ford, pending letter of reconnnendation and <br /> <br />explanation from the Cityls Commissioner of the Revenue: <br /> <br />Mr. Kent Mathewson, City Manager <br />Martinsville, Virginia <br /> <br />Re: H. Turner, t/a Turner & Mize Motor Co. <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Mathewson: <br /> <br />Relative to our conversation on Friday, November 5th, I am writing this <br />letter to give you an explanation of the basis on which Mr. Turner claims a <br />
