McGhee, Traffic & Planning Engineer <br /> <br />BE IT CRDAINED by the Council of the CiiU of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular <br />meetiIl?; assembled October 12, 1954, that it doth hereby and herein an:end Chapter I, <br />Section 1, Paragraphs 25 and 26 and Chapter I, Section 4(b), Paragraphs 2 and 2 <br />of the Traffic and Safety C ode of said City of Martinsville to read as follows: <br /> <br />~ter I, Section 1 <br />-Paragraph 25 - BUsINESS DISTRICT <br />The territory contiguous to any highway between designated points as <br />follows : <br />Church street between Moss Street and C 1eveland Street. <br />Moss Street between Church Street and George Street. <br />Fayette Street between Armstead Street and Jones Street. <br />Main Street between Moss Street and Clay Street. <br />Bridge Street between Chestnut Street and Main Street. <br />Jones Street between Main Street and Franklin Street. <br />Franklin Street between llain Street and. Fontaine Street. <br />Walnut Street between Church Street and Main Street. <br />Lester Street between Church Street and Carolina & Northwestern Railroad. <br />Clay Street between ChurCh street. and Carolina & Northwestern Railroad. <br />Old National Highway between Lester street and Main Street. <br />Mineral and Green Streets between Lester street and Clay Street. <br />Broad Street between Chestnut Street and Church Street. <br />Chestnut Street between Broad and Bridge Streets. <br />Broad Street between Emmett Street and Memorial Boulevard. <br />Memorial Boulevard and Bridge Street from 200 feet north of the intersection <br />of Bridge and Cross Streets to a point 200 feet south of the intersection of <br />Memorial Boulevard and Spring Street. <br />Starling Avenue between Carter Street and Memorial Boulevard. <br />Memorial Boulevard from Starling Avenue to a point 100 feet south of the <br />intersection of Memorial Boulevard and Douglas Street. <br />Fayette Street between Roundabout Road and Church Street. <br /> <br />Paragraph 26 - RESIDENCE DISTRICT <br />The territory contiguous to any highway, not comprising a business district <br />as specified herein. <br /> <br />Cha~ter I, Section 4(b) <br />aragraph2 - 20 miles per hour in business districts as defined herein, <br />except when a street passing through a business district is a divided <br />highway consisting of four or more lanes a speed of 30 miles per hour may <br />be allowed. <br /> <br />Paragraph 3 - 30 miles an hour in a residence district, as defined herein, <br />except when other regulated by signs or Police Officers. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Paragraph 4 of Section 4(b) of Chapter I of said <br />Traffic and Safety Code be and is hereby repealed in its entirety. <br /> <br />An emergency existing, this ar"dinar:ce shall be in effect from date of its passage. <br />
