1 TU ESDAY FEI3illJARY 9. 1954 ".-- Through Ci t;r Manager Hathewson Cound] recei vao a report that the "friendlytt condemnation suit against Lanier Fenn, Inc. for the acquisition of certain property off Spruce Street Extended for the Ci t~., s East Sub-station site has been completed and that a Court Order has been entered in the local Circuit Court Clerk's office providing for the City's acquisition of said property for the cash sum of $2,500.00, \fhereupon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council approved the payment of said sum to Lanier ,-. Farm, Inc. for said property. Council, next, acknowledged replies from Ste,te High\.[[:y Commisdoncr J. A. Anderson and from State Senators Frank P. Burton and L~don R. Wyatt to the Council's resolvtion of January 26, 1954 relative tc the extendin~ (as a I" i~ i Federal-State-Local project) of the new Distribution Road (Route 220 Thorough- f[:re) to the C5.ty's south corporate limits and to the completing of proposed iI".provements to Routes 58 and 220, west and south of H'3.rtinsville, respectively. After receiving from City Nanager Mathel,.!son his report on the City's financial operations for the six-months period ended December 31, 1953, which report showed the City's finandal condition to be good, Council adopted the following resolution requesting the State Department of Highways to revise its present plans calling for a concrete median divider strip on the new Distribution Road (Route 220 ThoroughfRre) so that, and for reasons set forth in said resolution, instead of such a divider strip, concrete median divider blocks will be constnJcted on and made a part of the Distribution Road: (SEE INSERT)
