I 1 !i ~ Y: I b 1~, Y: I n ~ I li I A <br /> <br />RESOllJTION <br />- <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in its regular meeting held Deoember 22, 1953 Martinsville City <br />Counoil received from American Furniture Company, Ino. a petition requesting <br />the permanent closing and vaoating of that seotion or portion of Hairston <br />street from a point 150 feet west of Starling Avenue to the dead end of said <br />Hairston Street (west of Starling Avenue), and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in said meeting of December 22, 1953 Martinsville City Council referred <br />said petition to the City Planning Commission for its consideration and recom- <br />mendation, and <br /> <br />vlHEREAS. under date of January 12, -1954 said Planning Commission recommended <br />that the petitioner!s request be granted and pursuant to said recommendation <br />and in acceptance of same said Council oalled for a duly-advertised Public <br />Hearing on said petition to be eonducted February 9, 1954, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said Public Hearing was held on February 9, 1954 in accordance with <br />duly-advertised notice, at which time no objections were registered with the <br />Council; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia in regular <br />meeting assembled this ninth day of February, 1954 that it doth hereby vacate, <br />olose and abandon said portion of Hairston street (from a point 150 feet west <br />of Starling Avenue to the dead end of said Hairston Street west of Starling <br />Avenue); and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Attorney of the City of Martinsville is <br />hereby authorized and instructed to take such legal steps on behalf of the <br />City of Martinsville as may be necessary to effect forthwith the closing of <br />__ said porticn of Hairston street mentioned herein; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the <br />Clerk of the Cii:;:ocui"tj Court of the City of Martinsvil16 with the request that <br />he mark lIvacated!: on his records relating thereto said portion of Hairston <br />Street. <br /> <br />- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - <br /> <br />- <br />
