<br />87 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 14, 1953 <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of its constitution-and-By-Laws Committee, and as accepted <br /> <br />by the Company and approved by its Advisory Committee, the Martinsville Volunteer <br /> <br />Fire Company submitted to the council the following proposed amendments to the <br /> <br />Company's Constitution and By-Laws which the Council unanimously approved and <br /> <br />accepted: <br /> <br />Article I - Page 1 <br /> <br />Section 1. The organization shall be known as the City of Martinsville <br />Volunteer Fire 'Company, Inc. ... <br /> <br />Article II - Page 1 <br /> <br />Section 2. The age limits for applicants shall be eighteen (18) to <br />fifty-five ()5) years for active rrembers. .., <br /> <br />Section 5. ...Applications for membership shall be presented at a regular <br />business meeting at least one regular business meeting prior <br />to election. <br /> <br />Article III - Page 2 <br /> <br />Section 3. Active members attending less than an annual average of 50 per <br />cent of business meetings, drills and alarID2 will be auto- <br />matically dropped from active merribership on January 30 of the <br />year irrnnediately following. Silent alarms, fire watches or <br />any other special assignment shall constitute a make-u} for <br />missing a fire call, meetine or drill. <br /> <br />~~~ <br />8t::, <br />rr <br />i <br /> <br />Add <br />Section 6. <br /> <br />Leave of Absence: Any active member may be granted a leave <br />of absence up6n written request to the Company President. <br />Such request shall be acted upon at the first regular business <br />meeting following receipt of said request. The maximum for <br />any one leave of absence shall not exceed ninety (90) days. <br />No leave of absence shall be granted which would result in <br />reducing the active membership below twenty-five (25). <br /> <br />Arti.cle IV - Page 2 <br /> <br />Section 1. The elective officers shall consist of a President, Vice- <br />~~esident, Secretary, Treasurer and two Trustees. <br /> <br />Section 2.
