<br />M Martinsville <br /> <br />City Council <br />Agenda s~ <br /> <br />Meeting Date: <br />Item No: <br />Department: <br />Issue: <br /> <br />February 13, 2007 <br />1. <br /> <br />Public Works <br /> <br />Conduct a public hearing and consider approval of the sale of <br />City-owned real property consisting of approximately 2,800 <br />square feet fronting 1324 South Memorial Boulevard to Randy <br />Powell and authorizing the City Manager to execute a deed <br />conveying said property as noted. <br /> <br />Summary: <br /> <br />As discussed at your last meeting, the City has been approached by Randy Powell <br />expressing a desire to purchase unused residue/surplus property located in front <br />of 1324 S. Memorial Blvd., approximately 2,800 square feet, assessed value of <br />$800.00. Mr. Powell has acquired the house/lot at this location and plans to use <br />the additional property to improve parking and driveway space. <br /> <br />Staff research indicates the property was acquired by the City from the Virginia <br />Department of Transportation a number of years ago as a result of the widening of <br />Memorial Boulevard. <br /> <br />The property in question is not needed by the City for street widening/ construction <br />purposes and Mr. Powell has agreed to purchase the property at the assessed <br />value (determined by the Commissioner of the Revenue's Office). <br /> <br />Attachments: <br /> <br />Map of 1324 S. Memorial Blvd <br /> <br />Recommendations: <br /> <br />Conduct public hearing and motion to authorize the City <br />Manager to execute the deed. <br />
