<br />;4 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 10, 1953 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br /> <br />Virginia, with ~~yor R. S. Hodnett presiding, was held in the Council <br /> <br /> <br />Chamber on Tuesday, February 10, 1953, at 7:30 P.M., the following members <br /> <br /> <br />being present: Mayor and Councilman R. S. Hodnett 3l1d Councilmen C. P. Craig, <br /> <br />D. H. Goode, and J. R. Walker, -- Councilman W. T. Turner being absent. <br /> <br />Minutes of the regular Council meeting held January 27, 1953, upon being <br />read, were approved. <br /> <br />In observance of National Boy Scout Week local Boy Scouts, having been <br /> <br />elected by their fellow-Scouts, served L~ various City official capacities <br /> <br /> <br />during the day of February 10, 1953 and were recognized by }byor Hodnett and <br /> <br /> <br />the Council at the meeting covered by these minutes. <br /> <br />Noting the presence of visitors and interested citizens, Co~mcil deferred its <br /> <br />regular order of bG.siness to recognize tile visitors and to hear from any citizen <br /> <br />who might hE.ve any questions to ask concerning the forthcoming proposed bond <br /> <br />issue election. After receiving pertinent questions and answering same and, also, <br /> <br />explaining that all related info~ation would soon be available to the local <br /> <br />voters, Council had the following two proposed ordinances read publicly and <br /> <br />in their entirety but as separate items and, after the reading of each, upon <br /> <br />motion, duly seconded, and by a recorded vote of the four Councilmen present, <br />unanimously placed each upon first reading: <br /> <br />(SEE INSERTS) <br />
