<br />13,; <br /> <br />January 9, 2007 <br /> <br />--- .-- <br /> <br />~ '--"'1 <br /> <br />A Community Meeting with City Council for the Druid Hills/Uptown area <br /> <br /> <br />was held on January 9, 2007, at the Blue Ridge Regional Library, 310 East <br /> <br /> <br />Church Street, Martinsville, Virginia, beginning at 7:00 P. M., with Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />Kimble Reynolds, Jr. presiding. Council Members present included: Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />Kimble Reynolds, Jr., Vice Mayor Clark and Council Members Mark T. <br /> <br /> <br />Anderson, J. Ronald Ferrill and Kathy C. Lawson. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Mayor Reynolds opened the meeting, welcoming all in attendance and <br /> <br />asking anyone who wished to make comments to approach the podium and <br /> <br />state their name and address. Comments were received from the following <br /> <br />individuals: <br />Ellen Young, 1502 Spruce Street Extension - concerns about property <br /> <br />located in the County across the street from her house that needs cleaning up, <br /> <br />do not reduce police force, new trees being planted Uptown block view when <br /> <br />they get larger, cars parking on Fairy Street that block view when turning right <br /> <br />onto Church Street, charging for bulk trash pick up twice a year. <br /> <br />Virginia King, 29A Jones Street - parking problem in Uptown area for <br /> <br />short-term visitors, need to better advertise the community meetings in <br /> <br />newspaper, concerns with ordinance on stipulations for a bed and breakfast to <br /> <br />locate in the City. <br />Mervyn King, 29A Jones Street - need more positive approach to our <br /> <br />community from the media, improvements being made in process of dealing <br /> <br />.--... <br /> <br />-1 <br />
