<br />3 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 22, 19S8 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously adopted, Council amended Section <br /> <br />16-44 of the City Code by the following ordinance (pertai nir.g to taxi-driver <br /> <br />certificate applications): <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this twenty-second day of July, 1958 <br />that Section 16-44 as amended, of the Code of the City of <br />Martinsville (1956~ be and is hereby further amended to provide <br />that: <br /> <br />.'--- <br /> <br />In the determination of the three convictions of State, City or <br />Federal offenses as provided in this section, the city manager may, <br />in his discretion, waive those convictions occurring prior to an <br />immediately previous five-year period and which convictions are <br />other than felonies. <br /> <br />An emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in force from date <br />of passage. <br /> <br />~~~ <br />I~.'..::~ <br />'-, <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a Report on Audit of the records of the City's <br /> <br />Municipal Court for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1957. <br /> <br />Council also aCknowledged receipt of a report fram City Manager Hirst on the <br /> <br />operation of the City's ~dro-Electric Plant which indicated a net return of <br />$56,474.10 for the period beginning July 1, 1956 and ending June 30, 1958. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst relayed to Council an announcement of a conference on local <br /> <br />government to be held August 25-27, 1958, in Charlottesville, Virginia. <br /> <br />In receiving an announcement of the forthComing 1958 International City Manager's <br /> <br />Association conference to be held in Dallas, Texas, Council authorized City <br /> <br />Manager Hirst to attend this conference. <br /> <br />In pointing out that there might be some sections of the City Code which might <br /> <br />be unconstitutional, Mayor Shultz suggested that City Attorney Taylor review the <br /> <br />Code and bring to Council's attention any such sections. <br />
