Shultz; Vice-Mayor and CounciJ.man E. E. Stone; and Councib18n Clarence C. <br /> <br />Donavarrt, B. H. Hill, and J. R. Walker. <br /> <br />A.fter the irr.rocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular meeting held <br /> <br />Jm18 24, 1958. <br /> <br />I!l D.8cordance with duly-a.dvertised public notice, C01.U1cil conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on the petition recently submitted by Messrs. H. GrCl.d:l .l,Ioore and J. I'r. Townes, requesting <br /> <br />the rezoning from lIB-l Busincssll to "A-l Residential" a 2.34-acre tract of land O\"Tood <br /> <br />rr:;-;~rzc. <br />W <br /> <br />by Messrs. :Moore and Tarmes aDd located at Banner Street and Bet.1Lel L:me. Some tw'clve <br /> <br />residents and property armors of the area appeared before Council and registered the~~ <br /> <br />objections to the proposed rezoning whereas no one present supported t11e ~)roposed <br /> <br />reze,ning although the City Planning Connnission hacl endo:'sed the rezoning. Upon motion, <br /> <br />duJ.y seconded, and UJ12.nimously carried, Council denied the petitioners' request. <br /> <br />By unani.l'nous action, Council appointed Dr. Leon A. La.ckey to membership on the City <br /> <br />Planning COllunission and, also, reappointed the present Loombers, viz., Messrs. T. J. <br /> <br />Cl1.i1dr3Gs, Jr., leon Globman, S. M. Hedgecock, Ben W.Via, Stafford G.'Nhittle, III, <br /> <br />and J. :?rank Wilson, all for four-year ter;;Js ending June 30, 1962. <br /> <br />After reviewing the Harch 25th report and recorrrrnendations of the Special Parking <br /> <br />Committee and C ol'llTOOnts thereon by Mr. leon Globman, Chairman, and City Manager Hirst, <br /> <br />C01.L'1cil went on record as accepting that portion of the Committee's recommendations <br /> <br />pertaining to the converting of certain ~~rking meters in designated areas, indicating <br /> <br />th2.t these :rreters should be cha.'1ged to nfive-cents-per-one-half-hour", effective <br /> <br />August 1, 1958. <br />
