Grady Moore and J. W. Townes requesting the rezoning of a 2.34-e.ere-tract

of land owned by them on Banner street in the Chatham Heights area:

The Planning Commission, at a meeting on Tuesday, June 3rd, considered
a matter referred to itby- Council. This matter was a request from
Mr. H. Grady Moore and Mr. J. W. Townes for the rezoning of a 2.34-aere
tract of land from B-1 Business to an A-1 Residential classification.
After due consideration of this matter, the Commission voted unanimously
to hold a public hearing thereon on Tuesday, June 10, 1958 at the City
Council Chamber. This meeting was duly advertised, both in the newspaper
and copies of this public notice being mailed to all individuals in the
affected area. At this hearing Mr. H. Grady Moore, one of the petitioners,
appeared and one other member of the public having property in the affected
area. The Commission noted that no objections were raised to the proposed
rezoning.

Further consideration was given this request at a meeting June 18, 1958.
It was noted at this meeting that a petition had been received from
owners of property in the area, objecting to the rezoning. This objection
not withstanding, your Commission voted to recommend to Council that the
entire area as requested be rezoned from B-1 Business and A-1 Residential.

It was the feeling of your Commission that this property would be more
properly zoned as A-1 Residential.

Your Planning Commission respectfully submits this recommendation for
Council's fUrther consideration.
