<br />2~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUAHY 25. 1958 <br /> <br />-,- <br /> <br />By a recorded vote, unanimous of those members present, Council approved <br /> <br />a tentative budget for the City's Department of Public \':elfare --in the <br /> <br />total amount of $53,764.00 of which the City's share will be $12,275.00-- <br />for the forthcoming fiscal year 1958-59. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a oop,y of an order issued by the <br /> <br />Ms.rtinsville Electoral Board directing the City Registrar to purge local <br /> <br />voter registration records in compliance with Section 24-96 of the Virginia <br /> <br />Election Laws. <br /> <br />City V~ager F~rst announced the scheduled activation of the City's electric <br /> <br />substation #3, to be knovffi as the Downtovffi Substation, on the afternoon of <br /> <br />February 26, 1958. <br /> <br />m." <br />3~ <br />LL <br />~- <br /> <br />As indicated in previous Council minutes, City V~nager Hirst presented in <br /> <br />writing his comments and observations on the recomn~ndations and findings <br /> <br />contained in the official Audit Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1957. <br /> <br />The Eanager informed Council that preparation of the City's 1958-59 budget is <br /> <br />now in its initial stages and asked Council for its suggestions as to items <br /> <br />Council specifically wants to include or exclude in the budget. <br /> <br />The }fumager also informed Council of his findings on the condition of local <br /> <br />streets and water lines after the unusually heavy snow and cold weather during <br /> <br />the eight days beginning February 15th. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />)~~~~i\~ a. h~_~,-: <br />w.
