<br />~20 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />SEPTEHBER 241 1957 <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Hanager Hirst, Council approved a deed or <br /> <br />agreement dedicating to the City certain right-of-way at the intersection <br /> <br />of Spr~ce and Brookdale streets to improve the right-of-way alignment. <br /> <br />Mr. E. G. Ramsey appeared before Council and verbally requested the re- <br /> <br />zoning to "industrial" classification certain of his property, not <br /> <br />presently so zoned, located off Route 58 East and near Cherry Street <br /> <br />and the Carolina & Northwestern Railway right-of-way. Council referred <br /> <br />this req'8.est to the Planning Cornmission upon the condition that Mr. Ramsey <br /> <br />present his request in writing to the Commission and, too, submit a map <br /> <br />or sketch of the property involved. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst briefly reported on the following matters: <br /> <br />(a) City Park(East Church street) clean-up and improvement <br /> <br />program; <br /> <br />(b) Martinsville Block Company's progress towards reducing <br /> <br />distrubing noises created by their plant operation; <br /> <br />(c) Fayette Street (West) drainage problem, reporting that <br /> <br />some mainten8.nce work has been done recently to improve <br /> <br />conditions there; and <br /> <br />(d) Conference with Moody's Investors Service on September <br /> <br />16th, and Hoody's decision to continue the City's "A" <br /> <br />bond rating. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />~,W/\ Q.<<'A_'.A.~ <br />w.
