Shultz presiding, was held in the Coune n Chamber, City Hall, on <br /> <br />Tuesday, S!,:ptember 10, 1957, at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, as follows: <br /> <br />Mayor and CounciJman John W. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and Councilman E. E. Stone; and <br /> <br />COlL'1.ciLilen Clarence C. Donavant, B. H. Hill, and J. R. 'Walker. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular meeting helc <br /> <br />August 27, 1957, and its special meeting held August 29, 1957. <br /> <br />Reviewing the purchase transaction recorded in the mirmtes of Council's August 29th <br /> <br />special meeting, reGa.rding the property of Mr. a.nd Mrs. E. A. S"lle at the southeast <br /> <br />corner of Church and Hoss Streets, Council apprCJITed for City Manager Hirst's signature <br /> <br />the executing of five seven-thousand-dollar ($7,000.00 each) notes which will be made <br /> <br />and run concurrentlJr for one year, bearing 4.75% annual interest. According to an <br /> <br />understanding with Mr. and Mrs. Sale, Council indicated that it would redeem one note <br /> <br />each year and rene~ the remaining notes for another year until all are paid off <br /> <br />although, conditions warranting, the Council cmld redeem all of the notes at the end <br /> <br />of the first year or arw succeeding years. <br /> <br />After receiving a report from the Planning Commission, recommending denial of Mr. V. P- <br /> <br />Lester's petition requesting the rezoning of certain property on Starling Avenue near <br /> <br />Granville street, Council learned that the petition "b.as been 'In.. thdrawn.
