<br />j <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AI1GUST 13. 1957 <br /> <br />Mr. Rives S. Brown, Jr., and his attorney, Mr. Jackson C. Dodge, of Lanier <br /> <br />Farm, Inc., appeared before Council and requested Council's decision--by <br /> <br />August 27, 1957--as to whether Lanier Farm, Inc. will be permitted to connect <br /> <br />to the City's water distribution system and extend a water line or water lines <br /> <br />outside the corporate limits without complying with provisions of the City's <br /> <br />subdivision ordinance relating thereto. Mr. Brown stated that he is prepared <br /> <br />to construct a private water supply system for the area (near Lake Lanier) in <br /> <br />the event he is not allowed to connect to the city system under his terms. <br /> <br />Mr. Brown further stated that while he can and has complied with the sub- <br /> <br />division ordinance regulations applicable to development of property inside the <br /> <br />corporate limits, he can not and will not meet the conditions applicable to <br /> <br />outside development. Council referred the inquiry to City Manager Hirst for <br /> <br />oo'Z" <br />II"'.."' <br />:li~~ <br />H2 <br />!"C <br />\~~~ <br /> <br />study and recommendations, if any. <br /> <br />Council received and accepted the following report--concerning the marketing <br /> <br />of the $2,200,000 School Construction bonds authorized--as presented by a <br /> <br />special committee appointed July 23rd: <br /> <br />Report to the Martinsville City Council concerning the marketing <br />of $2,200,000 School Building Bonds. <br /> <br />Gentlemen: <br /> <br />Your committee, as designated by the City Council on July 23, <br />1957, submits to the Council the recommendation as outlined <br />below in the matter of securing funds for the $2,200,000 school <br />building program as authorized by the electorate on May 31, 1957. <br /> <br />Within the past week your committee has held three meetings.
