<br />4. Increases in wages averaging five cents per hour are <br /> <br />established for all hourly employees. <br /> <br />5. Provides for the purchase by the City Court Clerk's <br /> <br />office of microfilming equipment deemed essential to the efficiency of <br /> <br />that office, to the conservation of record space and to the protection <br /> <br />from fire of irreplaceable records. Cost - $3,270.00. <br /> <br />6. Frovides $5,375.00 for the second year of the Planning <br /> <br />Commission's three-year $15,000 planning program study by appointed <br /> <br />cons ultants . <br /> <br />7. Meets the total request, $1,200, 744. 50, of the City <br /> <br />School Board for operation of the school system. This school budget is <br /> <br />6-1/2% above the 1956-57 appropriation. No reduction is proposed on <br /> <br />the basis that the greater portion of the increase represents raising the <br /> <br />salary scale for classroom teachers. If City Council deems a reduction <br /> <br />in the propos ed school expenditures to be in order then such funds as <br /> <br />would be made available by the decrease would be available to supplement <br /> <br />other phases of the budget or add desired programs not already included. <br /> <br />8. Provides for acquiring a postage meter at cost of <br /> <br />$1,375.00 to be used by the Finance Department for utility billing and <br /> <br />othe r mail ing. <br /> <br />- 7 - <br />
