<br />1:: <br /> <br />TUES nAY <br /> <br />MARCH 26, 1957 <br /> <br />#'~"- <br /> <br />In compliance wi ih Coun;il's recent request, City Manager Hirst presented schedules <br /> <br />or tables of estimated debt service and property tax rate requirements to finan;e the <br /> <br />proposed $2,200,000 School building program, these tables supplerrenting other <br /> <br />info:rmation already presented to the Council. <br /> <br />After receiving and considering a suggested rabies ordinan;e prepared by City Manager <br /> <br />Hirst and Heal th Director Mayers, and upon recommendation of City Attorney Stone and <br /> <br />the City Manager, Council deferred action pending the revising of the ordinance to <br /> <br />incorporate enforcement procedures and ];ending adoption of the 1957-58 budget, Council <br /> <br />indicating that if the revised ordinance is adopted it should become effective near <br /> <br />the beginning of the Ildog-licensingJl year. <br /> <br />~'''' <br />=.fi <br />)~~ <br />IV' <br />,( <br /> <br />In response to the Planning Commission's March 12th recommendation that the Council <br /> <br />investigate the possibility of establishing ten-foot set-back lines on both sides of <br /> <br />Memorial Boulevard for its entire length, Council advised that in view of the <br /> <br />conditions upon which right-of-way for this street (or for its widening) was acquired <br /> <br />it could not conscientiously consider the establishing of additional set-back lines. <br /> <br />Mr. C. P. Craig, former Councilman, representing Morris Novelty Furniture Corpora.tion, <br /> <br />of which he is Secret~-Treasurer, presented to Council a ];etition requesting the <br /> <br />closing and vacating of that portion of unopened Third Street from Watt street to the <br /> <br />Carolina & Northwestern Railway right-of-way, which portion is presently being used <br /> <br />by MOrTis Novelty.
