<br />.10 <br /> <br />FRIDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUJ.RY 15. 1957 <br /> <br />Any owner of a motor vehicle, trailer, or semi-trailer, for which a <br />license tax is required under this ordinance who has not paid the <br />license tax on or before April 15, 1957, or who has operated a motor <br />vehicle, trailer, or semi-trailer on the streets and highways of <br />the City of Martinsvi1le for a period of thirty (30) days without <br />having paid the license tax herein levied, or who fails to display <br />the license plate as required herein shall be subject to a fine of <br />not less than one dollar ($1.00) nor more than twenty-five dollars <br />($25.00), which shall not relieve scch owner of the duty to pay the <br />license tax. <br /> <br />Any onlinance of the City of Martinsville heretofore passed which is <br />in conflict with this ordinance is hereby repealed. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Manager Hirst, Council adopted the following <br /> <br />ordinances (1) prohibiting continuous use of loading zones and (2) authorizing <br /> <br />issuance of maximum of three overt~bll'" parking tickets per day per motor <br /> <br />vehicle, thus amending the City's Traffic Code effective March 1, 1957; and, <br /> <br />also, Council placed on first re!iding the following ordinance regulating <br /> <br />solicitors and solicitations within the City: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in meeting assembled this fifteenth day of February, 1957, that the <br />Traffic and Safet,y Code be, and is hereby, amended to include the <br />fol1owll1g reg~lations; <br /> <br />(1) Stopping in loading zones. No person shall stop or park <br />a vehicle in any loading zone except for the immediate <br />and continuous unloading and delivery or pick-up and <br />loading of materia1R frmn or to a t~Jck or of passengers <br />to or from a passenger vehicle d\Jring hours parking <br />meters are in force. <br /> <br />(2) Overtime parking, separate offenses. Whenever parA1ng <br />is limited to a specified length of time, it shall be <br />a separate offense for each period in excess of that <br />aut~orized that a vehicle is permitted to stand in the <br />same parking space during the saIne day; provided, however <br />that no more than three violations for overtime parking <br />shall be charged against the driver of a vehicle for <br />permitting it to stand in the same parking space during <br />the day. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the foregoing shall become effective <br />March 1, 1957. <br /> <br />- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - <br /> <br />Sec. 1.
