<br />18 <br /> <br />TUESD\Y <br /> <br />OCTOBER. 23, 1956 <br /> <br />at Chapel Hill, North Carolina, have been er.rployed to assist in the <br />formulation of these general plam to tl1C extent the present <br />appropriation vJi 11 allow. <br /> <br />1,Vhile the above pr ogr2ill is not as extens ive and complete as :it would have <br />been had the City been able to avail itself of Federal participation, <br />YOill1 Commission f'eels that 'lrhat it now endorses will serve a definite <br />need and provide a sound bEB j.s for future plarning. <br /> <br />Your Commission is aiyare that perhaps the present Council is not fully <br />acquainted with all of the details of this procr2.m and would welcome <br />the opj)ort'mity of meeting with Council on this rna.tter should the Council <br />feel a joint discuss ion woule. be benefici2.l. <br /> <br />The PlanninG Commission respectfully submits this report for Council's <br />consideration. <br /> <br />In receiving, also, the folJowing Planning Commission report and reco~nendation, <br /> <br />in connection 'wi th a petition filed vlith the Commission by pannill Knitting Company, <br /> <br />Inc., for the rezoninG of certain property rear Mu..lberrJ Extension off Cleveland <br /> <br />Avenue, Courx:il called far a public hearinf!, on the nroposal to be conducted at Council IS <br /> <br />next regular meeting scheduled for Novenber D, 1956: <br /> <br />The Planr,ing Comnission of the City of r.Iartin~;c'ille, at its regular <br />meeting on Tuesday, October 2, 1956, considered a. request presented <br />to it in person by a representative of Pan.l1ill Knitting Mill Company. <br />This request was for the rezoning from B-1 COlillnercial to A-I Resi- <br />dential of a portion of a lot ovmed by Pc.cunill Knitting Mills fromting <br />and lying on the sout~ side of Mulberry Extension approximately 100 <br />feet east of CJBveland Avenue. <br /> <br />The Commission, after due comideration of this mtter, decided to <br />hold a public hearing vii th respect to this rezoninc and as a result <br />a public hearing was duly advertised for October 16, 1956 at 2 :00 P. M. <br />The only persons present at this public hei2ri:ng were the proponents <br />of the request in this matter; however two objections were recorded <br />tbrough the secretar:! of the Commission at the request of persons who <br />vrere not able to be present. <br /> <br />After due consideration of all of the facts le2J~ned in this public <br />hearing, the Commission voted unanimously to make the folJ.owing <br />recomme;'1clations to Council: <br /> <br />That the deptn zon:L.J.g of 150 feet alonr:; Cleveland Ave cue , presently <br />zoned for B-1 Commercial used be reduced to C"p-,-Jl~oximately 103 feet <br />
