Council also authorized the filing of an. application <br />for Federal planning funds with the understanding that services of the <br />consulting engineers would be at no cost to the City unless and until <br />said application is approved by the Federal Government. <br /> <br />After reviewing a proposed lease agreement (contract) with the <br />Martinsvil1e-Henry County Airport Development Corporation for the use <br />by said group of a portion of the City's airport property, Council <br />approved same for the City Manager's signature subject to agreement <br />between the Manager and the airport group on the effective date of <br />said agreement. A request by the group that the City file an application <br />for available state funds on behalf of the lessee was referred to City <br />Manager Mathewson and City Attorney stone. <br /> <br />Consideration of a proposed contract between the City and the consulting <br />engineering fim of Wiley & Wilson (Lynchburg, Virginia) for development <br />of sewage disposal and sewerage system plans was continued, as was <br />consideration of naming a local coordinator for the Virginia 350th <br />Anniversary Commission. <br /> <br />Council, next, authorized City Manager Mathewson to execute a new contract <br />with the state Department of Welfare & Institutions whereby, retroactive <br />to January 1, 1956, the State of Virginia will pay to the City the sum <br />of one dollar ($1.00) per day for each "State offense" prisoner confined <br />to the City's Prison Farm. <br /> <br />\. <br />
