<br />J60 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 8, 1961 <br /> <br />RESOLlJTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it apnearing that in the subdivision of certain realty <br />situated in the City of Martinsvil1e, Virginia, designated on Section <br />h2, Plat lIpll of the City of Ma.rtimv Hle Tax ~.'!ap, ~ertain areas were <br />designated for street or road purposes, among vrhicb is that portion <br />of Chesh:il'e Street lying on the West side of Broad Street, between <br />the East line of lot l16, 11.;.0.2 feet from the West line of Proad Street <br />and the north line of li:emorial BOl\levard, said portion of Cheshire <br />Street running in fr'jnt of lots 6, 7 and a portion of lot 8 of the <br />J. W. Cheshire Subdivision, and beirlf:: as shown on Section u2, Plat lIpn <br />of the City of :fartinsvil1e Tax iIIap: and, <br /> <br />NHEHE.AS, it appearing that the City COllncLl has heretofore <br />appointed viewers to see if the public WOllld suffer any inconvenience <br />by the abandonment of said street; and, <br /> <br />'NlIEREF..5, the said viewers have reported in writir.g that they <br />find that no inconvenience would be suffered by the public of the <br />City if Martim'iiHe; and, <br /> <br />WHE'~E!~3, it apooarirg to this Council that all of the necessary <br />requirements prescribed by Sections 15-766 and 15-766.1 of the Code <br />of 'lir ginia of 1950, as amended, for the abando:rl.'l1ent and discontinuance <br />of the above-described Dortion of Cheshire Street have been duly <br />complied with; <br /> <br />NOW THSREFCRE, B'-: IT tU\SOLVED, by thp Council of the Citv of <br />Mar ti rsville, Virfin:La, in re[':U lar meetirg assembled this 8thU day of <br />AUf,:ust, 1961, t'L2.t it ooth hereby abandon and discontinue the above- <br />described Dortion of Cheshire Street, and doth hereby direct t1.at the <br />Clerk of the C :il'cuit Con't of t.l,e City of 1-1artinsville shEll mark the <br />same so abandoned and discuntinued on the above-referred-to rTJa'J. <br /> <br />After receiving a written repor t sugges tir.g certai.n proced~Jres in conjunction <br /> <br />with the required and forthcoming 1962 reaopraisal of local taxable real estate, <br /> <br />Council continued the matter for further study. <br /> <br />Ci..ty Eanager Hic'st presented to Council a SUIllIl1ary of bids received--there being <br /> <br />seven-the afternoon of August 8, 1961, for the construction of the third phase <br /> <br />(Dr;1id Hills-Forest Park areas) of the current sewerage system.s improvement <br /> <br />program, the lowest bid (under three proposals or alternates) being submitted <br /> <br />by Aaron ,T. Conner.
