336 FRIDAY JUNE 30, 1961 In conjunction \vith the foregoing adoption of the budget, Council amended by the following ordinance Section 3 of the utility tax ordinance adopted June 11, 1957, and, in so doing, Council directed t hat said amendment would become effective with utility charges rendered on and after August 1, 1961, and is to expire and revert to the original ordinance provisions June 30, 1962, thus putting into effect for tte period specified a tax of $3.00 on each monthly utility bill rendered by the City: BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in special meetiIl; assembled this thirtieth day of Jure, 1961, that Section 3 of the ordinance imposing and levying a monthly tax on the uses of water and electricity wi thin the CiW of Martinsville, as adopted June 11, 1957, be and is hereby amended, only for the period beginning August 1, 1961, and ending June 30, 1962, as follows: Section 3. There is hereby imposed and levied by the City of Martinsville upon each and every purchaser of a utili t,y service as defined in Section 2 herein a monthly tax in the sum of Three Dollars ($3.00) against the purchaser with respect of utilit,r service, which tax in every case sha11 be collected by the seller from the purchaser and shall be paid by the purchaser unto the seller fCll:' the use of the City of Martmsville at the time that the purchase price or such charge shall become due and payable under the agreement between purchaser and seller. The fact that a purchaser shall purchase both electricity and water from the seller shall not be construed as imposing a tax on each utility service furnished by the seller to the purchaser; that is to say, under this ordinance, the maximum tax to be collected from a purchaser shall be three dollars ($3.00) per month.
