<br />:38 <br /> <br />T1JESDAY <br /> <br />Nav~~ITlliR 22. 1960 <br /> <br />BE TI RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting held November 22, 1960, that on behalf of the <br />governments hereinabove mentioned L-rovin loT. Cubine, an attorney at <br />law, be and is hereby ap~ointed attorney and agent with authorization <br />to institute and conduct condemnation proceedings to acquire said <br />land in fee simple, together with necessary easements, and as its <br />attorney to ~ke oath to the petition, all in accorc vnth the statutes <br />in this State and the provisions of the Charter of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, in such cases made and provided. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst presented a proposed resolution to effect Cmlncil's agreement <br /> <br />and intention of October 11, 1960, whereby under certain conditions a portion <br /> <br />of Second Street, unopened, along the north side of Memorial Boulevard North, <br /> <br />waQld be vacated and abandoned and would be made available to ~~. Roy C. Stone. <br /> <br />Council continued this matter pending a conference between City officials and the <br /> <br />attorney for Mr. Roy C. Stone, petitioner. <br /> <br />Upon recormnenc"ation of City Manager Hirst, Council authorized the construction <br /> <br />of a sewer line extending north on India~ Trail to Spruce Street, said <br /> <br />construction to be done by Prillaman & Pace (and J. V. Richardson) and made a part <br /> <br />of the contract awarded this firm Sentember 12, 1960, and cost of such extension <br /> <br />to be paid by Lanier Farm, Inc., in accordance with Lanier Farm's proposal <br /> <br />presented to and accepted by Council on AU~lst 23, 1960, whereby the City would <br /> <br />reimburse Lanier Farm, without interest, not later than such time as the proposed <br /> <br />}fulberry Creek Interceptor line is scheduled or nrogramrced for construction. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City ~~nager Hirst, Council adopted the following ordinance <br /> <br />establishing a new electric service tariff applicable to churches served by the <br /> <br />City's Electric Utility System, which tariff 1trould ma1<:e available to churches a <br /> <br />similar tariff established by the Appalachian Power Company September 8, 1958 as <br /> <br />well as continue the City's current rate schedule, thus effecting two rate schedules <br /> <br />and apnlying whichever is the more beneficial to each church: <br />
