<br />:6 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NAY 26, 1959 <br /> <br />Thus, if the expenditure requests are approved, a total sum of $976,620.16 <br /> <br />would be required from local tax sources. In addition, the School Boe~d <br /> <br />presented a second bl1dget estimate, based on operation of the school system <br /> <br />from City funds only and as required by 1959 legislation of the Virginia <br /> <br />General Assembly as to presentation of such a budget, as follows: <br /> <br />4,799 Children -- ages 6 <br />Operating Expenses . . . . <br />Debt Service . . . . . . . <br /> <br />20 in Martinsville <br />$ <br /> <br />..... <br /> <br />731,847.50 <br />263,055.50 <br /> <br />$ 994,903.00 <br /> <br />Council continued for further study proposed anti-noise ordinance amendments <br /> <br />and regulations, as well as a memorandum report dated }ny 25, 1959, from City <br /> <br />Manager Hirst dealing with the estimated cost of financing heretofore-considered <br /> <br />sewerage system improvements as well as ways and means of financing such <br /> <br />improvements. <br /> <br />Dr. JOM D. French, Dr. Marvin Midkiff, and l'b;. William Z. Ford, representing a <br /> <br />corporation known as ''Fifteen Cleveland, Inc.", presented a petition requesting <br /> <br />the rezoning of their property located at 15 Cleveland Avenue for professional <br /> <br />usage, indicating that consent has been obtained from adjacent property owners <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />and indicating, also, that ample off-street parking would be provided. COlucil <br /> <br />referred this petition to the PlaP~ing Commission for its consideration and <br /> <br />rec o!11Inenda tion. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council approved for }~yor <br /> <br />Shultz' signature and execution on behalf of the City a water-line crossing <br /> <br />agreement with the Carolina and Northwestern Railway, providing for crossing <br /> <br />the railway company's right-of-way and railroad tracks on Fishel Street with <br /> <br />a six-inch City "Tater main. <br />
