<br />J46 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 22, 1964 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held Tuesday, December <br /> <br />22, 1964, beginning at 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chamber, City Hall, with all <br /> <br />members being present, viz., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Vice-Mayor Fred T. Renick, <br /> <br />M.D.; Harry L. Boaz; Thomas J. Burch; and E. E. Stone. <br /> <br />After the invocation Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held December 8, 1964, and of its special meeting held December 15, <br /> <br />1964. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on a proposal--as per request submitted December 10, 1963, by Dr. Bate C. Toms, <br /> <br />Jr., and Dr. S. W. Adams--to rezone to "P_1 ProfessionalU that property fronting <br /> <br />on Starling Avenue between the properties of Martinsville General Hospital and <br /> <br />N. S. Schottland, and extending to Oakdale Street. There being no objections <br /> <br />registered, and in acceptance of the Planning Commission's recommendation <br /> <br />submitted November 24, 1964, Council effected said rezoning by the following <br /> <br />ordinance arr~nding the City's Zoning Code, meanwhile asking the Planning Commission <br /> <br />to give study to rezoning all property within the block for similar usage inasmuch <br /> <br />as the zoning character of the block appears to be in a transitional stage: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING CODE OF THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, <br />VIRGINIA, EFFECTING REZONING OF PROPERTY AS HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this twenty-see ond day of December, <br />1964, that the zoning classification of "P-1 Professional" be, and <br />is hereby, applicable to that property--formerly known as the "Few <br />Property"--fronting on the east side of Starling Avenue, between <br />the north line of Martinsville General Hospital property and the <br />south line of N. S. Schottland property, and extending to the west <br />line of Oakdale Street. <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst informed Council that court orders have been signed and <br /> <br />entered by the special Annexation Court granting the petitions for annexation <br /> <br />filed by Lanier Farm, Inc., the Whittle Trust, and the Knollwood Place-Lanier <br />
