<br />1~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 27. 1963 <br /> <br />,--- <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst informed Council that Lanier Farm, Inc., is in the process <br />of subdividing--where approved by the Plan:ning Conmission-certain tracts of <br /> <br />land owned by Lanier Farm and designated by recorded map as "park areas" and, <br />where such areas are subdivided, making same available for residential building <br /> <br />usage. City Manager Hirst, further, pointed out that areas for park and <br /> <br />recreational purposes are no longer available to keep pace with the City's <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />growth and needs and, consequently, determination should be made of the status <br />of the "park areas" designated and owned by Lanier Farm; whereupon, Council <br /> <br />expressed its opinion that the City should accept these areas and maintain them <br /> <br />as ~ark areas". <br /> <br />A special committee, appointed by Mayor Wilson August 13, 1963, and canposed of <br />Councilmen Burch and stone, reported that it has learned of a number of tracts of <br /> <br />land as being available to the City for municipal purposes and that the committee <br />is continuing ita study and will report its findings in the near future. <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst presented a comparison of the total value of building permits, <br />by years, issued by the City's Inspection Department during the last seven years, <br />reporting that the value of such permits for the portion of 1963 through August 27th <br />has surpassed the total for a:rt1' preceding calendar year, being more than two or <br />three times the value of anyone year except 1962. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />l~g~~ <br />V.
