<br />86 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 13. 1962 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall, Tuesday, November 13, 1962, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members of <br /> <br />Council being present, viz., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Vice-Mayor Fred T. Renick; <br /> <br />Harry L. Boaz; Thomas J. Burch; and E. E. Stone. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held October 23, 1962. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst reported that Holiday Inn Motels--or Roan Motor Inns, Inc., <br /> <br />Roanoke, Virginia--apparently has withdrawn its request filed with Council <br />July 31, 1962, for permission to connect a new Holiday Inn Motel (under con- <br />struction on Route 220 North) to the City's proposed Jones Creek Interceptor <br /> <br />Sewer Line, inasmuch as private sewage facilities are being or have been <br /> <br />constructed at the new motel, with effluent flowing or to flow into a storm <br /> <br />drain along Route 220 towards Jones Creek. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Manager Hirst, as per his written proposal dated <br /> <br />November 13, 1962, Council authorized the transfer of $190,000.00 from the <br /> <br /> <br />Electric Utility Fund's surplus--on an lion-loan" interest-free basis--to a <br /> <br /> <br />special account in the General Fund to finance the cost of constructing water <br /> <br />and sewer lines and an elevated water storage tank to serve the Airport- <br /> <br />Industrial Park, contracts for constructing these utility facilities having <br />been awarded by Council September 21, 1962. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Attorney Cubine, with concurrence by his associate <br /> <br />counsel, Council adopted the following resolution authorizing and directing an <br />
