<br />:3 t <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 11. 1969 <br /> <br />In response to an expression from a member of the United States Armed Forces <br /> <br />now serving his third tour of duty in Vietnam, indicating that--as a result of <br /> <br />a recent visit to Martinsville--he would like to reside in Martinsville upon <br /> <br />completing his assignment and, meanwhile, would like for someone to enter his <br /> <br />order for a subscription to the Martinsville Bulletin (for which he expected <br /> <br />to be billed), members of Council and other persons present voluntarily <br /> <br />contributed and/or donated sufficient personal funds to ensure a year's free <br /> <br />subscription to this serviceman. <br /> <br />In order to better accommodate mutual drainage needs for property at the end <br /> <br />of River Forest Place, Council approved an exchange deed between Mr. James H. <br /> <br />Ford and the City of Martinsville, providing for the abandonment by the City <br /> <br />of a drainage easement between lots #29 and #28 in exchange for similar easement <br /> <br />between (or to edge of) lots #28 and #27. <br /> <br />Building Official James B. Jones, Jr., informed Council that during the last <br /> <br />three years a total of 327 residential buildings were constructed in the City <br /> <br />and, during the same period, a total of 117 have been demolished. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />, ~"-'-)" ') ,. ._____-~ ,r _......~ <br /> <br />W.
