Oscar <br /> <br />F. Cannaday, Jr., T. J. Childress, Jr., and J. E. Zentmeyer, to constitute <br /> <br />a Board of Viewers to perform the duties required by statutes in connection <br /> <br />with petition submitted by Mrs. Evelyn H. Stone, Trustee (represented by <br /> <br />Mr. C. Grady Monday, Attorney at Law), requesting the abandonment of two <br /> <br />un-named alleyways in the Overton Street area. <br /> <br />Mayor Renick, also pursuant to authority recently granted by Council, <br /> <br />appointed the following persons as a special Tax Study Committee, with <br /> <br />authority to employ a qualified consultant: <br /> <br />Mr. Thomas B. Noland, City Manager, Chairman; <br />Mr. J. Frank Wilson; <br />Mr. Thomas J. Burch; <br />Mr. I. W. Cubine, C~ty Attorney; and <br />W. H. Yeaman, Clerk of Council and Director of Finance. <br /> <br />Mr. George W. Lester, II, Executive Vice President of Lester Lumber Company,Inc., <br /> <br />appeared before Council and verbally requested the rezoning of Lester Lumber <br /> <br />Company property--located at the northwest corner of Fairy Street at its <br /> <br />intersection with East Church Street--from "R-911 to IIC-JlI. Council referred <br /> <br />this request to the Planning Commission for its consideration and <br /> <br />recommendation. <br /> <br />In view of the Planning Commission's report and recommendation recorded <br /> <br />in Council's minutes of February 14, 1967, pertaining to Mr. Oscar F. <br /> <br />Cannaday's request regarding "rent-subsidy housingll in Martinsville, Council <br /> <br />suggested that the more appropriate procedure for Mr. Cannaday--rather than <br /> <br />at this time again appealing to Council for adoption of required resolution-- <br /> <br />would be first to seek another audience with the Planning Commission to <br />
