In

TUESDAY

NOVEMBER 8. 1966

In an additional report, Dr. Mathes commended the City on its effecting removal

of certain substandard houses which he considered to be a health menace and fire

hazard and, further, asked that an attempt be made to eliminate rodents in the

area of such houses--prior to their being demolished and removed--in order to

prevent a spreading of rodents in the general area. Council indicated its desire

to cooperate in this matter.

Mr. Richard S. Mansfield, of the local Health Department, reported on progress

being made in the rodent extermination program involving several of the City's

sanitary sewer lines. BroWTI indicated that, in the near future, provisions would be made to

allow for more frequent cleaning of these containers and for a satisfactory

solution of the problem cited by Mr. Mansfield.

Counc:il expressed some concern as to the unsightly condition of various vacant

lots, discussing with City Attorney Cubine the difficulty under the statutes

encountered in attempting to compel owners of any such lots to keep such lots

free of weeds and rubbish.

Council was adjourned.

George W.
