<br />114 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 8, 1966 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Counci I of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, with Dr. F. T. Renick, Mayor, presiding, was held Tuesday, November 8, <br />1966, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7: 30 P. M. , all members <br />being present, vi z . , Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D. ; Vice-Mayor E. E. Stone; Harry L. <br /> <br />Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and Francis T. West. <br /> <br />After the invocation, and in the absence of W. H. Yeaman, Clerk of Council, <br /> <br />Council appointed George W. Brown, Director of Public Works, as Acting Clerk <br /> <br />of Council. Reading of the minutes of Council's regular meeting held <br /> <br />October 25, 1966, was postponed. <br /> <br />Upon motion, Council approved for execution (by the City) of an easement agree- <br /> <br />ment with the Norfolk & Western Railway Company, covering one 18t! cast iron <br /> <br /> <br />sewer pipe line crossing the railway company's right-of-way in the vicinity of <br /> <br /> <br />the American Furniture Company plant, more specifically described as t!MP R-66 + <br /> <br /> <br />3475 feet, Martinsville, Virginia, Plan N-31863-A, revised October 21, 1966.t! <br /> <br />The agreement provided for the railway company to donate to the City of <br /> <br />Martinsville (licensee), for its public purposes, a license and permit having a <br /> <br />fair market value of $95.00 for the first year and $20.00 per year each year <br /> <br />thereafter. It was brought to Council's attention that this line was installed <br /> <br />sometime ago, with verbal permission of the railway company, subject to the <br /> <br />conditions set forth in approved agreement. <br /> <br />Council also approved--for execution by Mayor Renick--a deed transferring a <br /> <br />strip of land to the Norfolk & Western Railway Company, to provide the railway <br /> <br />company wi th right-of -way for a railroad siding from its industrial lead tract <br /> <br /> <br />at the City's Industrial Park and adjacent to property acquired by Frith <br /> <br />Construction Company from the City several years ago. This siding, it was <br /> <br /> <br />indicated, would serve two warehouses situated on Frith Construction Company's <br /> <br />property. <br />
