<br />71 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 28, 1966 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized the <br /> <br />."..,.,,-..... <br /> <br />conveying--without cost to grantee--of a small triangular tract of land <br /> <br />(consisting of .28 acres) to the Norfolk & Western Railway Company, which <br /> <br />tract is located within the City's Industrial Park and will provide the <br /> <br />Norfolk & Western Railway Company with right-of-way in connection with its <br /> <br />rail spur tracks serving industries located within the Park. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Council also unanimously accepted a deed from Frederick Scott, Jr., and wife, <br /> <br />conveying to the City a ten-foot strip of land for a distance of 144 feet to <br /> <br />provide better access to Route 58 for residents of an area between East <br /> <br />Martinsville Elementary School and said Route 58, especially when future <br /> <br />planned improvements to the access route are completed. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a copy of the Abstract of Votes from <br /> <br />Martinsville Corporation Court, as cast in the councilmanic election held <br /> <br />June 14, 1966, a portion of the Abstract being as follows: <br /> <br />FRANCIS T. HOBSON <br />VIRGINIA HALL <br /> <br />1,230 Votes <br />1 ,2f72 Votes <br />329 Votes <br />892 Votes <br />1,074 Votes <br /> <br />With an expression of appreciation of--and gratitude for--the outstanding <br /> <br />services rendered the City and its citizens over the years by members of the <br /> <br />Planning Commission, Council unanimously reappointed all present members of the <br /> <br />Commission to new four-year terms beginning July 1, 1966, as follows: Messrs. <br /> <br />T. J. Childress, Jr., James H. Ford, Leon Globman, (Dr.) Leon Lackey, Morton <br /> <br />W. Lester, William G. Pannill, and Ben W. Via. <br />
