Brown interests, plus intervening appreciation, (original value <br /> <br />of $2,397.56 plus appreciation, or $3,596.34), and $4,000.00 for <br /> <br />improvements located thereon. <br /> <br />Upon certification by both the Commissioner of the Revenue and the City <br /> <br />Treasurer, Council authorized and directed the refunding of real estate <br /> <br />taxes Eaid against erroneous assessments, being the amount of $255.00 to <br /> <br />Yancey F. & Julia H. Burnette (for tax years 1967 thru 1970) and the amount <br /> <br />of $708.16 to Evelyn H. Stone, Trustee, (for tax years 1956 thru 1970). <br /> <br />Council took no action on City Manager Noland's inquiry as to the forthcoming <br /> <br />July 4th holiday, i.e., whether to declare--as the Governor of Virginia has <br /> <br />declared--Monday, July 3rd also a holiday. <br /> <br />Council, by unanimous action, convened into an Executive Session to discuss <br /> <br />certain personnel matters and, at the conclusion of which, reconvened into <br /> <br />regular session, with Mayor Renick indicating that the Council and City <br /> <br />Manager had discussed the offices of the Director of the Electric Department <br /> <br />(Mr. Thomas W. Wright, Director, having recently retired because of total <br /> <br />and permanent disability) and the Chief of Police, with no decisions reached. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br />
