<br />')1 <br />- .& <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 27, 1971 <br /> <br />Council continued for study the establishing of property tax rates to apply <br /> <br />to the 1971 property tax billing. <br /> <br />Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its study and recommendation, <br /> <br />an application for a Special-Use Permit filed by the Martinsville Volunteer <br /> <br />Fire Company to allow this organization to conduct its next three annual <br /> <br />bazaars at Brown Street Field, the Permit heretofore in force having expired <br /> <br /><.- <br /> <br />in 1970. To expedite this consideration, Council suggested that the <br /> <br />Commission and Council jointly conduct the required public hearing(s) at <br /> <br />the forthcoming earliest regular meeting of Council as will satisfy statutory <br /> <br />requirements. <br /> <br />Council accepted with gratitude and appreciation a gift of land, covered <br /> <br />by appropriate deed, from Mr. and Mrs. Victor A. Lester, subject to <br /> <br />development and usage of said land solely for a municipal park and/or <br /> <br />playground, said land being situated on the east side of Mulberry Road at <br /> <br />its northeast intersection with Finley Street. <br /> <br />Several citizens appeared before Council and commented upon the findings <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />of the 1970 Board of Assessors, as these findings apply to the individual <br /> <br />properties of these citizens. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adjourned to <br /> <br />an Executive Session to consider a personnel matter, in accordance with <br /> <br />applicable statutes permitting such sessions. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />W.
