<br />34 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 9, 1971 <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that said Zoning Ordinance be, <br />and is hereby, amended to reflect and include the following: <br /> <br />(a) under IISection II. Definitions"- <br /> <br />Fraternal organization. Any organization having <br />religious, charitable or professional purposes. <br /> <br />(b) under 11 Section V" - IIF. P2 Professional District." - renumber <br />items 7, 8, and 9 to items 8, 9, and lO, respectively; and <br />add as "Item 711 the following: <br /> <br />Meeting halls for fraternal organizations, provided that <br />no public social functions may be held therein; and provided <br />further that the building shall be located not less than <br />twenty-five (25) feet from any side lot line and that all <br />off-street parking shall be to the rear of said building. <br /> <br />Also, pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing on the petition of Mrs. Evelyn H. Stone, Trustee, dated September 25, <br /> <br />1970, requesting the rezoning to "R-9 Residential" of petitioner's 78-acre <br /> <br />tract of land situated on the west side of Rives Road (formerly the Scuffle <br /> <br />Hill Road). Representing petitioner was Mr. John W. Holmes, who reiterated <br /> <br />petitioner's reasons for the rezoning request, recognizing that the Planning <br /> <br />Commission (under date of January 12, 1971) has recommended to Council that <br /> <br />the request be denied. There being no other speaking for or against the <br /> <br />petition, and because of the absence of Councilmen Boaz and Hartford, Council <br /> <br />continued this matter until its next regular meeting at which time it is <br /> <br />expected that all members will be present. <br /> <br />In connection with Council's action during meeting held January 26, 1971, <br /> <br />authorizing the filing by the City of a preliminary application for a <br /> <br />Federal grant for sewage treatment works (under the Federal Water Pollution <br /> <br />Control Act), City Manager Noland reviewed with Council said application, to <br /> <br />be filed on or before February 15, 1971 for 80% of total estimated cost of <br /> <br />$968,000.00 to install secondary treatment facilities required by the State <br />
