<br />~l <br />.. <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 9, 1970 <br /> <br />Council received--and referred to the Planning Commission and to a Board <br /> <br />of Viewers (the latter composed of Messrs. William B. Muse, Leroy Perkins, <br /> <br />and Joseph W. Pritchett) for consideration and recommendation--a petition <br /> <br />filed by the Three T Investment Corporation requesting the closing of a <br /> <br />section of Middle Street, situated between Roundabout Road and the rear <br /> <br />of Lot #91 of the Wray Estates Development. Included in this petition was <br /> <br />the agreement by petitioner to deed to the City a section of land adjacent <br /> <br />to the proposed street ending, for a turn-around area. <br /> <br />Members of the Henry County Board of Supervisors, accompanied by Henry <br /> <br />County Commonwealth's Attorney Roscoe Reynolds, Executive Secretary Robert <br /> <br />Grant, and Engineering Consultant William Overman, appeared before Council <br /> <br />and discussed with Council the long-range goal of the County of Henry and <br /> <br />the Henry County Public Service Authority toward providing water and sewer <br /> <br />services to the populated areas of the county, suggesting that the City might <br /> <br />wish to join with the County to coordiate efforts to meet the needs of both <br /> <br />jurisdictions. Several methods toward achieving a functional unification of <br /> <br />such services were discussed, such as through a Public Service Authority or <br /> <br />Commission; whereupon, in acceptance of City Manager Noland's suggestion, <br /> <br />the Council and the Supervisors agreed to meet jointly in the near future to <br /> <br />confer with one or more administrators or directors of such authorities <br /> <br />already in operation, to which meeting the Planning Commission and other <br /> <br />interested officials would be invited to explore the possible service routes <br /> <br />and financing details. <br /> <br />Through Henry County Commonwealth1s Attorney Roscoe Reynolds, the Henry County <br /> <br />Public Service Authority reiterated its desire that the City not exercise its <br /> <br />option to purchase the Woodland Heights Water System, which option the City <br />
